Fun, Food, and Friends at GrowAbility!

Wednesday was a beautiful, lovely dry day at the allotment—but that meant the soil was parched! We all kicked off the session by filling up watering cans and walking around the plot to make sure absolutely everything had a good, deep drink.

Once the watering was done, it was back to business with our usual weeding and planting. We also enjoyed a wonderful meeting together around the table on the decking. It was especially lovely to be joined by our fantastic Side by Side volunteer, Barbara—we truly hope she might come more often!

 Today's Harvest & Homegrown Lunch

Our harvest today was absolutely bountiful:

  •   Tons of beautiful, really tasty lettuce

  •   Lots of lovely, crunchy radishes

  •   Plenty of freshly pulled rhubarb

We used our fresh harvest to build our own super healthy sandwiches, packed full of the different veggies we are already growing (and some we have coming up soon!).

A Dynamic Dessert & Special Visitors

For a sweet treat, we chopped and cooked our homegrown rhubarb to make a brilliant "cheat’s crumble" using:

  •   Stewed rhubarb and honey

  •   Creamy Greek yoghurt

  •   Crushed ginger biscuits

It was absolutely delicious!

To top off a great day, Marian G. popped in to say a quick hello and kindly gifted us a cake, which we all shared and enjoyed. Thank you so much, Marian!
