Join Us as Project Coordinator for Our New Friday Night Social Group -
‘OUR Choice’.
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for building communities and inspiring others?
Saffron Walden Mencap Society is seeking a Project Coordinator to develop our brand new Friday evening social group. You will be at the heart of our charity, shaping our new project and leading a dedicated team of Companions, who will create engaging and meaningful experiences for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism based on their personal choices.
This is a unique opportunity to build a successful club from the ground up, with our new group for members aged 26 and over. You will work closely with the team involved with our well-established group for young adults (16-25), ‘Go With OUR Flow’. These members will fully transition to ‘Our Choice’ by their 26th birthday.
As our Project Coordinator, you will be more than a facilitator—you'll be the driving force behind this project. You will manage logistics, coordinate activities, and provide guidance to the team. You will be ‘hands on’, taking on the role of Companion as well as overseeing the events as leader. Your leadership will be key to the success of this new venture and to making a real difference to the lives of our members.
What we're looking for:
-
A motivated and organised leader with proven experience in team leading or supervision.
-
The ability to inspire and mentor a team and above all to be fun!
-
Experience in social care or supporting people with learning and/or physical disabilities is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
-
A full driving licence and your own vehicle are essential, as you'll be providing transport for some members on club activities. Appropriate insurance cover, mileage and agreed expenses will be reimbursed.
Role Details:

Hours: Friday evenings, with a commitment of at least two Fridays per month. Hours will be flexible, usually commencing after 5pm. There will also be some administrative tasks to complete, such as arranging sessions and transport, booking venues, and carrying out risk assessments. These tasks can be performed in hours to suit you.
-
Pay: £14.50 per hour
Important:
-
Employment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
