GrowAbility: Wednesday 10th June 2026

We had a brilliant, action-packed day down at our GrowAbility allotment club today, racing against the weather! With massive black clouds looming overhead the entire time, the team worked furiously to get all our jobs done before the downpour hit.

We managed to plant out the tomatoes, strawberries, marigolds, peppers and dwarf beans, and get everything watered in just in the nick of time. We also squeezed in a grand tour with George, our new project coordinator, combining a look at what’s growing with a fun, interactive "risk assessment" of the site. George has his own allotment and fitted in seamlessly straight away; he'll be teaming up with Lisa Harper to run our weekly groups.

Just as the heavens opened, we retreated to enjoy a fantastic spread put on by Katie. It was the perfect timing for our lunch, where the whole team—including Patrick, some of our trustees, and our operations manager, Emma—came together to welcome George and say a fond goodbye to Jacquie who started the club 5 years ago!

It was a fantastic day, despite the weather! Jacquie, will miss you all so much - thank you for all the wonderful memories.
