We missed Esther, Doriyan and Matthew today - but Barry Julie Tristan and Charis were all up for some fresh air and working on the plot! Lisa kept everyone busy.
So this week we used our own homemade compost (we made using a toblerone compost method!) to top up the soil in our strawberry planter & raised beds. It’s really important to top up our existing soil with fresh new compost full of nutrients to feed this years plants and vegetables we plan to grow we love learning together and feeling part of the wider community of allotmenters who visit Dig It Community Allotment during the week. It’s great to see Julie coming into her own - she’s really loving gardening and today she ate something she thought she didn’t like with her jacket potato and really enjoyed it!
We had three special guests for lunch - our Trustees Pat and Jane Bailey and Lee who had been busy working on the new plot. Pat and Jane had brought along a lovely raised bed donated by a neighbour of theirs. We used our trusty sheep’s wool method to keep 15 jacket potatoes toasty hot for 3 hours and shared a lovely meal together!
Sunshine, teamwork, friendship and kindness - it was all there today!
With thanks to Elsenham Lodge and Essex Freemasons for supporting our project.
