GrowAbility: Wednesday 19th August 2026
It was another busy and brilliant week at GrowAbility. With lots of members joining us and plenty to keep everyone busy!
Charis and Julie got stuck into the important job of preparing for next year, meticulously picking and saving seeds ready for future planting. They were so careful with their work. It’s always exciting to think ahead and know that the seeds we save now will help keep the plot growing next year!
We also had a little wildlife rescue mission when Noah (our resident insect spotter) spotted a bee in need of some help. He carefully placed it on tissue soaked in sugar water, but the bee didn’t seem particularly interested! Noah then had another idea and moved it onto a marigold, where hopefully it found the nectar it was looking for.
There was plenty of wildlife activity elsewhere on the plot too, as we discovered some magnificent caterpillars making themselves at home in the apple tree.
Tristan and Joel helped keep our compost healthy, making sure everything was well looked after and ready to do its job of feeding the soil. We also harvested plenty of lovely tomatoes, which were absolutely delicious and a fantastic reward for all our hard work!
With so many members joining us, it was a really productive and enjoyable session. From saving seeds and caring for wildlife to looking after the compost and enjoying our harvest. We all played our part. As always, we’re looking forward to next week already.
