GrowAbility: Wednesday 4th March 2026

Our first day back was a 10/10!  Not only did we get back to our favourite spot, but we also got a massive amount of work done. We’ve officially kicked off the season by planting several different types of lettuce—keep your eyes peeled, they’ll be ready for harvest in about 6 weeks!

We also welcomed three new faces for a taster session: Julie, Anna, and Doriyan. We started with a cuppa (of course!) about of the plot by Lisa - we all had fun guessing the herbs by sight and scent (Matthew was the winner!)

Other highlights?

• Hearing about Anna’s family vineyard in Bulgaria—we’ve got high hopes for our grapes now!

• Doriyan getting up close and personal with the local insects and jumping straight in to help.

• Welcoming Julie - she didn’t think she liked gardening until today!

seeing the whole gang reconnecting in the sunshine.

We rounded the whole day off with a beautiful communal lunch in the summer house, provided by the lovely Katie. She treated us to a homemade tomato and butter bean soup, topped with roasted butter bean croutons and sprinkled cheese, served with fresh French bread.  It was absolutely wonderful and the perfect time to sit back and talk about the season ahead.

It’s going to be a fantastic year of growing (and eating!) together. Welcome to the family! Huge thanks to Essex Freemasons and Elsenham lodge for their support - we hope you can come and see us all in action very soon!
