It’s a bumper harvest at the plot - Dig-It update 12th October 2022

It’s a busy time of year for us allotmenteers! Lots of weeding watering and planting as usual but many crops need harvesting too!

Steve has a new ingenious addition to the summerhouse - a glove rack! All of our new gloves are named and now we know where to find them when we arrive. He’s been doing lots of other jobs too- some involving some serious equipment as you’ll see in the photographs.

Clare, Karl and Scott have moved on to different activities as part of the ARC’s rotation policy, giving people lots of different opportunities - they have all worked so hard and developed good knowledge and skills while they were with us. We will miss them very much - we hope the photo’s will bring back lots of happy memories of the plot and please do come back again any time!

We are delighted to have Alex, Laura and Matthew remaining with us, and really look forward to welcoming the new team members next week.

Today Amanda Julie, Wendy, Steve, Marion, Bolette and Jacquie had a lovely time in the sunshine: Julie weeded and prepared a new bed, Amanda and Wendy potted on the cornflower seedlings they planted from seed a few weeks ago, and the rest of us pottered picking and watering, soaking comfrey and borage for making liquid fertiliser, weeding and checking progress while Steve made a start on the base for the decking which will help Amanda get into the summerhouse on her wheels! We chatted lots over hot drinks and biscuits about possibilities and plans for the changing season which is such an exciting part of working on an allotment.

Finally Marion put together a rather gorgeous box of lovely organic vegetables to go to Cafe Cornell. We do hope you enjoy our photographs!
