A Party with Heart(s)! #growability

Today’s Saffron Walden Mencap Society gathering at the fabulous Saffron Building Society’s Community Link was one for the books. They say “a party without cake is just a meeting,” and thanks to the Saffron Walden Cook Shop, we definitely had a party!
The Highlights:
• The Food: Incredible quiche and (very fast-disappearing) carrot cake from our local COOK
Shop!
• The Crafts: Making Valentine’s seed-hearts with Ewelina.
• The Feast: Katie’s plethora of salads and home-grown bean sprouts.
• The Discovery: While eating, we talked about the healthy aim of eating 30 different plants a week. We counted everything on our plates and realized we hit 17 in just one meal! It was a surprise to realize that reaching that target isn’t so hard when you eat fresh.
• The Best Part: We realized that out of those 17 items, there was almost nothing we don’t already grow on our allotment. We are so excited for the growing season ahead!
We were having such a good time that we ran out of time to plant our chillies with Lisa but the community link felt so full and vibrant today.
